XP 1200 spraybooths are installed at the 20,000ft2 Gillibrand Accident Repair centre in Blackburn, part of a full paint shop remodelling project guided by manufacturer, David Utting Engineering.

Gillibrand Accident Repair Centre is a modern, independent bodyshop with a reputation for good workmanship and reliability. The business is owned and managed by the Weddle family and is located in Blackburn, just half a mile from the M65 motorway.

Dating back to 1859, the business has evolved gradually from its early origins as a Wheelwrights and Blacksmiths to become a leading Accident Repair Centre, at the forefront of modern vehicle repair technology. It is a classic example of a business that has moved with the times and adapted to the demands of the Repair Industry and its customers’ needs. Peter Weddle, one of the company directors explains the background to the project: “We had reason to replace an old spraybooth and scoured the market. Having spoken to David Utting, he took us to see an installation he had done elsewhere and it soon became apparent from what we saw that we had the right man to handle a once in a generation opportunity to give our premises a complete facelift. Whilst we started out wanting a new oven the eventual installation included two new ovens, a primer booth, a gun wash room, paint mixing room and a full refurb of the paint shop preparation area. David put together the detailed specification and estimate and we gave him the go-ahead.”

They were very flexible and got the job done on time and on budget. David even helped us with the application for a Carbon Trust loan which was available at the time to help us fund the project.
